# Build a Partner Account Plan

A one-page plan for a partnership: the shared customer, what each side gives and gets, and the first joint play.

## When to use this skill

- Starting a partnership that has a signed agreement but no plan.
- Quarterly reviews of partners that signed and went quiet.

## Inputs to collect

- The partner's business and who they serve
- Three shared or target accounts
- What you can offer: integration, services, co-selling, content

## Process

1. Define the shared customer. If you cannot, the partnership is a logo swap.
2. Write gives and gets for both sides. Asymmetry kills partnerships.
3. Name one account and one play. Do it before building anything bigger.
4. Set the 90-day measure: shared pipeline, not meetings held.
5. Review at 90 days and either scale or end it honestly.

## Decision rules

- No shared customer profile means no partnership work yet.
- If one side gives more than it gets for two quarters, renegotiate or exit.
- Measure shared pipeline and revenue. Meeting counts are activity, not partnership health.

## Output requirements

- One page: shared customer, gives and gets, first joint play, 90-day measure, failure risk.

## Quality checks

- Gives and gets balance across both sides.
- The first play names a real account.
- The measure is pipeline or revenue, not meetings.

## Limitations

- The plan cannot create partner commitment. A plan without an engaged counterpart is fiction.
- Attribution between partners stays hard. Agree on the counting rule early.

## Example input

Partner: a RevOps consultancy serving the same mid-market SaaS firms. Shared accounts: 4. We offer the platform; they offer implementation.

## Example output

Shared customer: 300 to 1,500 person SaaS firms rebuilding revenue process after a leadership change. We give platform and co-marketing; they give implementation and their client introductions. First play: joint audit offer to named account Brindle Co. 90-day measure: 3 shared opportunities sourced. Failure risk: their consultants bill by the hour and deprioritize anything that does not generate services work this quarter.

## Review checklist

- Shared customer defined?
- Gives and gets balanced?
- A named account in the first play?

## Rules of conduct

- Write for a Director, VP, or operator. Short sentences. Explain uncommon terms.
- Separate facts from assumptions. Never hide uncertainty.
- Do not invent numbers, benchmarks, quotes, or customer names.
- Do not send messages, change CRM records, or publish anything unless the user explicitly asks.
- Flag when a decision needs human review.
