Should We Sign an Agentic Enterprise License Agreement (AELA) or Stay on Flex Credits and Conversations?
Salesforce documents AELA as a fixed-price, fixed-term agreement with unlimited access to covered consumption services and no usage-based billing. Scope is agreement-specific. Compare the flat fee to your Flex Credit and Conversation forecast before you treat unlimited as settled.

The short answer
What is AELA in Salesforce's own words?
Evidence
- The Proof Gap has a measured size Every GTM function adopted AI faster than it produced revenue. One dataset measures both sides in the same sample.
- Does Salesforce publish an AELA list price on that page? No. The Flexible Buying Models FAQ points you to your account executive. Scope and price are negotiated.

Salesforce documents AELA as a fixed-price, fixed-term agreement with unlimited access to covered Salesforce consumption services, no overages, and no usage-based billing under that model. It sits above PayGo, Pre-Commit, and Pre-Purchase Flex Credit buying models on the same Flexible Buying Models page. Source: Flexible Buying Models.
This is not PayGo versus Pre-Commit versus Pre-Purchase. It is not Conversation breakeven math. It is not Coworker seats versus Flex Credits. It is whether Finance should lock a multi-year flat fee for enterprise-wide agent and data consumption, or keep metering on Flex Credits / Conversations until burn is predictable. Sibling forks: PayGo vs Pre-Commit vs Pre-Purchase, Flex vs Conversations, Coworker seats vs Flex Credits, Digital Wallet.

Treat marketing unlimited as a starting claim, not the Order Form.
What still sits on consumption if you do not sign AELA
Public Agentforce pricing still runs Flex Credits ($500 per 100k credits list), Conversations ($2 per conversation list), Foundations at $0 to start, and employee-facing add-ons / Agentforce 1 Editions with seat paths and included Flex Credit pools. Flex Credits and Conversations are not supported in the same org. Unused Flex Credits do not roll over. Sources: salesforce.com/agentforce/pricing, Flex Credits Rate Card 08.31.2026.
Sibling decoders already cover the meter forks: PayGo / Pre-Commit / Pre-Purchase, Conversation breakeven, Foundations outgrow, Core / Advanced / Max included credits, shared Data 360 pool, Digital Wallet with no hard kill switch.
Decision rule for Director+ teams
- Build a 12 to 24 month Flex Credit and Conversation forecast from real agent action counts, not vendor value slides. Use Digital Wallet history if you already burn. Sibling forecast post: Forecast.
- Ask the AE for an AELA quote that names every covered consumption service line by line (Agentforce, Data 360, MuleSoft, Slack AI or other). Anything unnamed stays metered or out of scope.
- Compare the flat annual fee to the high and low consumption scenarios. AELA wins when broad adoption is already certain and the flat fee beats the high case. Consumption wins when you are still in pilot, single-team, or seasonal burn.
- Put renewal uplift caps, fair-use / usage-envelope definitions, product-add pricing, and exit / transition language in the draft before signature. Competitors and procurement advisors treat those as the real negotiation, not the headline unlimited. See SaaSed and Vantage Point.
- Keep Digital Wallet reporting even under AELA if the contract allows visibility. Unlimited without a burn view becomes Optimization Theater with a fixed invoice. Sibling: Digital Wallet.
Order Form worksheet
- Covered products table: each Salesforce consumption service in or out of the AELA, with SKU names as they appear on the quote.
- Definition of unlimited: fair-use language, baseline assumptions, and what happens if usage materially exceeds the documented envelope.
- Term length, renewal notice, and max annual uplift percentage in writing.
- How new Agentforce or Data 360 capabilities released mid-term are priced (inside AELA vs additive).
- Whether Flex Credit PayGo / Pre-Commit / Pre-Purchase SKUs remain for any uncovered org or BU.
- Reporting: Digital Wallet or equivalent consumption visibility cadence for Finance and RevOps.
- Exit: what meters and prices apply the day after the term if you do not renew.
What competitor pages claim (demand, not Salesforce list)
Vantage Point frames AELA as flat-fee unlimited use covering Agentforce, Data 360, MuleSoft, and select Slack capabilities, and publishes an adopt-early versus wait table against Flex Credits and Conversations. SaaSed stresses that AELA is the agreement, Agentforce is a product that may be covered, and every coverage list is contract-specific. Beri and related 2026 commentary treat AELA as the enterprise flat-fee answer after conversation and Flex Credit eras. Use those pages as demand proof and negotiation checklists. Do not paste a competitor's guessed annual fee into Finance. Confirm with Salesforce. Sources: Vantage Point, SaaSed, Beri.

Agentforce Pricing Explained: Credits, Licenses, and Total Cost
Agentforce is not one price. It is a stack of editions, entitlements, meters, and platform costs that only resolve into a number once you know which product you are buying. Here is how to work out which one you are looking at, and which question to ask next.
Reality Check
What Are Salesforce Core, Advanced, and Max Editions, and How Many Flex Credits Does Each Include?
On Sep 3, 2026 Salesforce published Core ($195), Advanced ($395), and Max ($550) per user/month for Agentforce Sales and Service, with org-level Flex Credit pools of 500,000 / 1 million / 2.75 million. Credits do not scale per seat. Legacy edition pricing stays for existing customers; Agentforce 1 can move to Max at no extra seat price.
