Perplexity Comet for agentic account research (L3)

Use Perplexity\'s Comet agentic browser to do real account research: it navigates the prospect\'s site, 10-K, recent press, and competitor pages, then assembles a structured one-pager for the AE before each first call.

The steps

  1. 01

    Install Comet + connect calendar

    Tool: Comet

Install the Perplexity Comet browser. Sign in with the same Perplexity Pro / Enterprise account. Connect Google Calendar (read-only) so Comet can see which prospect meetings are coming up. Owner: each AE. Time: 10 minutes. Pitfall: using the regular Perplexity web app instead, Comet's agentic browsing is the whole point. DoD: AE can ask Comet "who am I meeting at 2pm and what should I know" and get a real answer.

  2. 02

    Build a standard research recipe

    Tool: Comet

Write a shared prompt the team uses verbatim: "For {company}, browse their website, LinkedIn, recent press in the last 90 days, their G2 reviews, and their last 10-K if public. Produce: (1) what they sell in 1 sentence, (2) revenue + headcount range, (3) 3 strategic priorities from leadership quotes, (4) 2 likely pain points for {our product category}, (5) 1 competitor weakness we can lean on. Cite every claim." Owner: enablement. DoD: prompt lives in the sales wiki and is used by >80% of AEs before first calls.

  3. 03

Drop the brief into the meeting calendar

    Tool: Manual

Habit: AE runs Comet 1 hour before each first meeting, copies the brief into the calendar invite description, and into the deal record in CRM. The brief becomes the meeting agenda, manager can scan calendar and see who prepped, who didn't. Owner: AE; manager spot-checks. DoD: every first meeting on the calendar has a Comet brief in the description.

  4. 04

Compare results vs Clay / 6sense

    Tool: Manual

After 4 weeks, compare Comet briefs vs your existing Clay/6sense/ZoomInfo enrichment on 20 deals. Comet is better at narrative/qualitative; Clay is better at structured firmographic data. Use both, but Comet is the new default for "why is this account interesting". Owner: RevOps. DoD: 1-pager comparing both, with a rule for when to use which.
