Autonomous sourcing inside a bounded list (L5)
An agent works a defined account list end to end: research, first touch, follow ups, and meeting booking, inside strict messaging, frequency, and suppression rules. Reps take over at the reply.
The steps
- 01
Bound the list and the claims
Tool: Clay
One named segment, an approved claim set, and hard suppression on existing customers, open deals, and do not contact records. Scope creep is the failure mode here. Owner: sales leadership plus RevOps. DoD: suppression verified against live CRM state.
- 02
Cap frequency and volume
Tool: Outreach
Maximum touches per contact and per account per month, enforced outside the agent. Deliverability damage from an unbounded agent takes quarters to repair. Pitfall: measuring only meetings while domain reputation degrades. DoD: caps enforced at platform level and monitored.
- 03
Hand off cleanly at reply
Tool: Agentforce
Any human reply stops agent sending immediately and routes to the owning rep with the full thread and context. No agent should be negotiating. Owner: RevOps. DoD: handoff tested including out of office and hostile replies.
- 04
Report quality, not activity
Tool: Manual
Report meetings held, qualified rate, complaint rate, and deliverability alongside volume. Volume alone will look excellent while the channel burns. Owner: sales ops. DoD: all four metrics in the weekly report.
